Dear Friends, Family, and Community,
It is with absolute heartbreak that I share the devastating news of the sudden passing of my beloved Neice, Amitoj Kaur. At just 24 years old, her life was tragically cut short in a horrific fire accident in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia yesterday.
She came from India as an international student in 2020, full of ambition, hope, and big dreams for her future. Because of her deep sense of responsibility, she worked tirelessly and could never manage to go back home to visit. Her father is very sick, and her mother is a housewife; she took it upon herself to be the sole breadwinner and caretaker for her family back home. She carried their entire world on her shoulders. Her sudden and tragic departure has left her family completely shattered.
Why We Are Raising Funds
As we navigate this unbearable grief, our immediate priority is to bring her body back home to India. We want to ensure her parents and family can see her one last time, hold her close, and perform her final rites with the love and dignity she deserves.
The financial burden of international repatriation, legal documentation, and funeral arrangements is overwhelming. As a student's family, they simply cannot manage these high costs alone during this darkest hour.
I am the uncle of the deceased. I am fundraising on behalf of her parents (the Amitoj family), who are currently in India.
Reason for managing funds: Her parents are elderly, are not technologically inclined, and are currently completely overwhelmed by grief. Because they are in India and cannot handle the logistics right now, I am managing the fundraiser on their behalf.
Plan for the funds:
We are handling the entire process here in Canada, including the legalities, paperwork, and logistics required to clear her body and send her home. The primary portion of these funds will be used immediately to cover these international repatriation and legal costs.
Any additional or remaining funds will be securely transferred directly to the parents' bank account in India to be used for her funeral services and to support them, as she was their sole breadwinner.
We humbly ask for your generosity to help ease this heavy burden.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward her repatriation and funeral expenses.
Please share this fundraiser with your friends, local community groups, and student networks to help spread the word.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your prayers, kindness, and compassion during this time of unimaginable sorrow.
