Our Chicken Cooper, our Coopman, the guy who brought us all together is not doing well. As of today (May 25th), the vets say it’s either wet FIP or cancer.
I have always tried to keep things light-hearted here, but I don’t want to downplay what’s ahead for our guy. Coop has a floating tumor in his abdomen near his kidney but it doesn’t seem to be attached to anything. Along with the tumor, he has many pockets of fluid throughout his abdomen. The tumor suggests cancer and the fluid suggests FIP. We’ve sent off his lab work for the in-depth FIP test so we can at least know if the fluid is FIP.
I want to express my deepest gratitude for every single person who has watched a video, donated food, donated funds, and loved Coop for the last 4 years. Coop has lived a good life because of all of you and your support! I get the honor of loving him at home but that would’ve never been possible had it not been for the thousands of people who have loved him from afar.
No matter what treatment may look like for Coop moving forward, either FIP, cancer, or both, I am hoping we can give him the best shot at a life full of hope and free from pain.
That was my promise to him when we found him the coop all those years ago- a life as comfortable as possible. A life with as much love, comfort, and health as possible for as long as possible. And we are so lucky that so many people in the coop kitty community have asked to help us keep that promise
